lauren kathleen

18 years ago today i gave birth to lauren kathleen. it was one of the best things i've ever done.

much to my relief, it was a very quick delivery. as a little girl, lauren loved to tell people the story of her birth she had heard her whole life, "i slipped out like a bar of soap!" because of the quick delievery, she managed to make it into the world with her head still shaped somewhat normal, unlike her older sister, who had the unfortunate job of being the first one to blaze the birth canal trail, and lived the first few hours of her life on this earth with a banana-shaped head.

lauren, a few minutes old. me, so glad to be holding her.
she cleaned up pretty well, didn't she?

slumber party celebration with some girlfriends from church

a few things i love about lauren:

  • she loves the Lord and wants to live for Him
  • she is full of sparkle and life
  • she seeks to honor and respect her parents
  • she is kind and loving to her sisters
  • she is self-disciplined and self-motivated, putting her all into whatever she does.
  • she knows how to be a good friend.
  • i love her doodles, her creamy skin, the way she belts out a song when she walks up the back stairs and flings her keys down on the floor on the landing (that's where they stay).
  • i love to hear her laughing on the phone with her friends, and even better, laughing in her room with her sisters.

happy birthday, honey-lo. it is a joy to be your mother, and a delight to watch you grow into who God has created you to be. i love you deeply!
