so much stuff

i'm in training for a century bike race right now.   don't exactly know what made me decide to do it...but i'm doing it.  (perhaps a mid-life crisis.)  (and i use the term "race" very loosely, as i have no desire to "race" anybody, or even the clock, for that matter.  rather, my one and only goal is to finish the race without dying.)

anyways, it struck me so funny this morning how much stuff i took with me as i went off on a training ride.

here's what i had on my bike/person during the ride.

  • two bottles full of gatorade
  • a cellphone
  •  keys
  • a map, printed out on multiple pages by my dear husband, taped together and folded up
  • a radio strapped to my arm, headphones around my neck
  • a GPS watch attached to my wrist
  • an almond butter and jelly sandwich smashed into the funky back pocket of my shirt
  • a handfull of almonds
  • a spare tire
  • a tire repair kit
  • sunglasses
  • a $5.00 bill

goodness!

and what did you listen to, dear jerbicyclist? was it talk radio? was it worship music? easy listenin'? national public radio? symphonic sounds? i expect your musical tastes are still quite ecclectic!
