at a banquet/awards night in the gymnasium, before the meal we stood and recited the pledge of allegiance. and we all said plain and clear, "One nation, under God."
and of the 25 seniors that were honored for being at the top of their class, about 9 of them publicly gave thanks to God, and one even thanked "Jesus Christ, His Savior." the entire audience clapped, seeming to sound their "amen."
at the prom two weeks ago, the guy and girl that got crowned Prom King and Prom Queen were both believers. this doesn't excite me because i think that Christian kids deserve to be Prom King and Queen; what impresses me is that the entire student body of juniors and seniors chose to honor these kids in that way. they weren't chosen particularly for their looks, athleticism or their popularity, all the things high-schoolers usually value--although at la habra high school, these kids were popular because of their character. i love that! i love that, whether they know it or not, the student body at la habra recognizes the light and character of Christ in these kids, and wants to honor it.
i am encouraged. i am inspired that the Light is still being shown, and that people are still being drawn to it at a place where there is so much darkness.
above it all, may Jesus Christ be praised!
