"whoville"

june 26.
alan, beejie and myself flew to kentucky to watch tessa's volleyball team play in a national tournament in louisville.  when we got there, maddie confessed that she had only just realized the day before we left that we were going to "louisville."  we had been talking about the trip for weeks, but she was checking the weather of our location the day before we left and had typed in "whoville," a city that didn't seem to exist on google. it seems that everytime we had talked about "louisville," maddie had heard "whoville." she even told all her friends that we were going to "whoville." being fans of "the grinch who stole Christmas," the idea that there was a real "whoville," not just the one that existed in dr. seuss' wacky mind, delighted them all.  (is it because everyone used to tell maddie that she looked looked like cindy-loo who when she was little that she had "whoville" on the brain?)

anyways, time in "whoville" was wonderful.  tessa's team did great.  they finished 11th out of over 100 teams.

tess (#6) playing outside hitter, which she loves

alan and i celebrated our 24th anniversary with the team at a cool place called lynn's paradise cafe'.  (ironically, hysterically, the more i think about it, the restaurant had a dr. seussian vibe.)  i am so blessed to be married to this amazing man.  being able to share the many struggles and joys of this life with a man i love and respect is a precious gift from God.

one of the highlights of visiting whoville was that our dear friends, matthew and natalie godshall (and cherub children, isaiah and alaythia) will be moving there in just a few weeks so matt can attend southern baptist seminary and work on a PhD.  it was such fun to tour the campus and see the their new stomping grounds.

the seminary was surrounded by sprawling, green lawns.

alan and beej thinking weighty, seminarian thoughts.

aaahh whoville. we will be there soon. not sure where exactly we'll be living, but we'll be there soon. i so love that God sent you out there before us...now when we stand there -- in the unknown -- we can go to those places and know you were there at one time.
