pneuma

i just experienced something really cool with one of my daughters.  it was one of those times when the Spirit takes truth and moves it from the cold, objective lobes of the brain to the warm, fleshy chambers of the heart.

my daughter was worried that a decision she had made would affect her dear friend in a really bad way.  she was afraid to tell her about her decision, thinking it would make her feel angry, sad, abandoned, etc. and put a horrible strain on their relationship.

we talked together about all these truths:  God's sovereignty, His trustworthiness, His ability to care for her friend and meet her needs. but the truths seemed a little hollow in the midst of all my daughter's fears.

well, when she finally told her friend, she was shocked at her reaction.  there was no anger, but grace, understanding and blessing instead.  looking back, she could see how God had prepared her friend's heart to hear her, how everything had been orchestrated perfectly for both of their growth and both of their good.

on a bigger scale, how amazing it is that God can use His work in one person's life to work good in so many other people's lives. (or not, depending on our response.)  there are so many layers to His workings and His plans!  He doesn't waste anything we go through, but adds it to the huge "opportunity-for-growth pool" from which we all drink.  we are all part of this huge web, spun and nurtured by Spirit.  how big He is, how small we are!  i know i'm kind of rambling on here, and shamelessly mixing my metaphors, but i can't find the right words to explain what i mean.  can anybody help me here?

It's in His nature to take care of every detail - to begin tuning the instruments before the concert. His Sovereignty. He does this over and over again, knowing what event (or decision) will happen and begins to orchestrate people and circumstances and other events to be ready to play their part when the time is right so that we can see His goodness and He can be glorified. When this happens the music of the Holy Spirit is sweet, no pitchyness, no one off beat and we can learn and grow. So glad that one of your girls got to see this in her life!

Excuse my rambling...I read your blog and had just seen God's hand in events today that he had begun to take care of details a year ago and my heart is now fuller!
