tessa's new propensity

tessa wants to practice driving whenever she can these days. and every time after she comes back from a drive with her dad, we all ask him, "how did she do?" (i think that secretly her two older sisters don't want to hear how great she did. they remember all too well the various, colorful stories we have of their first attempts at driving.) after their first time out, alan's answer was, "fine, but she has a propensity to drift."

tessa asked her father what "propensity" means, and he aptly defined it as a "tendency."

for some reason, we all--including tessa, thank goodness--found this phrase extremely amusing, and we say it whenever we can work it into the conversation. these past few days, during our family gatherings, when asked "so, how's the driving going?" tessa responds, "great! but i do have a propensity to drift."

what a sport, tessie is.
